Article: Agent-based modelling of Trypillian mega-site growth

Dmytro Kiosak, former post-doctoral fellow of the GPR "Human Past" at Ausonius, published a new article in the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports

Highlights

  • TryHous, an agent-based model, reproduces Trypillian mega-site layouts.
  • Houses are arranged in a double-circuit ring street using simple behavioral rules.
  • The layout can be adapted to include additional site features.
  • Even a stable population can generate hundreds of houses in a short period.
  • The house lifespan before deliberate burning is the key factor shaping settlement dynamics.
