Research Interests
Sylvain Forichon holds a doctorate in Roman History (Université Bordeaux Montaigne, 2015) and is presently an Project Engineer at the Institut Ausonius (Université Bordeaux Montaigne), and the research centre PLH (Patrimoine, Littérature, Histoire) at the University of Toulouse – Jean Jaurès. His current areas of research concern Roman spectacles, their buildings, the various reactions and emotions of their spectators, and their sensorial experience during the shows. He is also interested by the perception and the reception of Roman spectacles through the ages through to modern day. His notable publications include a monograph entitled Les spectateurs des jeux du cirque à Rome (Ier siècle a.C. au VIe siècle p.C.). Passion, émotions et manifestations (Bordeaux, Ausonius éditions, 2020), which is a revised version of his Ph.D. dissertation.
