Research Interests
During my master’s thesis I studied the dental remains of presumed enslaved individuals buried in Anse Bellay cemetery, an archaeological site from the colonial period on the island of Martinique (Anses-d’Arlet, 18th century). The main objective of my study was to better understand the identity of the individuals buried in this cemetery, particularly concerning the degree of homogeneity within the group and their population affinities.
This project allowed me to be trained in various methods within the field of dental anthropology: paleopathology, dental measurements, macrowear, intentional modifications, dental non-metric traits.
It also allowed me to acquire a greater knowledge of the colonial contexts of the Lesser Antilles.
The objective of my current contract within the GPR Human Past is to continue the research project on the Anse Bellay slave cemetery, initiated during my master’s thesis internship. Specifically, this involves conducting new analyses and publishing the results of our research in a scientific journal.
